A diferencia de los comienzos de la generación de Xbox One, Microsoft ha facilitado las cosas para que los usuarios de Xbox pueden tener la mejor transición posible de consola a consola. Tanto Xbox Series X como Xbox Series S cuentan con el soporte de Smart Delivery, o Entrega Inteligente en español.
¿QUÉ ES SMART DELIVERY?
Smart Delivery es una función que determinados juegos tienen soporte hoy en día, con varios más todavia por llegar al mercado. El concepto es muy simple: Microsoft y terceros te ofrecen la posibilidad de comprar un juego físico en Xbox One o mediante la store de Xbox, y que ya tengas garantizado que no vas a tener que volverlo a pagar cuando te pases a Xbox Series X (en caso del formato físico) o uses tu copia digital en Series S o X. Si, tal como se lee, la idea es que pagues solo una vez por el juego.
Pero Smart Delivery no es solamente eso. El sistema también permite que todos los progresos hechos con el juego se lleguen a pasar de una generación a otra para que no tengas que comenzar toda la experiencia de nuevo y tengas que arrancar desde cero toda tu experiencia. Esto será no solo gracias al sistema, sino también a la Nube de Xbox, lo que a diferencia de PS4 o PS5, algunos juegos requieren un proceso más tedioso y prolongando.
¿CÓMO FUNCIONA?
-Ejemplo de una descripción de la tienda-
Los juegos que soporten Smart Delivery, o Entrega Inteligente en español, tendrán un logo que se puede reconocer muy fácilmente desde xbox.com o desde tu Xbox One / Series. Una vez que compremos el juego eso sería todo, porque el sistema Smart Delivery va a reconocer desde donde estamos jugando. Por ejemplo: Si compramos Sonic Frontiers desde la web de Xbox y estamos esperando nuestra Xbox Series S, el sistema va a reconocer que estamos en esa consola y por defecto descargará la versión optimizada para Xbox Series S.
Cualquier juego con soporte para Smart Delivery trabaja de esta manera. El juego dependiendo del caso puede llegar a pedirnos que instalemos el juego solo el SSD o tarjeta de expansión de Xbox Series para ser jugable. Pero podremos usar cualquier dispositivo de almacenamiento compatible para tenerlo guardado. La consola misma te notificará si el juego requiere del disco de estado sólido interno de la consola para ser jugable.
En caso de que quieres volver a instalar el juego en cualquier Xbox One, simplemente iniciamos sesión y se descargará por si sola la versión para dicha consola. Todos los progresos se transfieren mediante la Nube. Todo el sistema está diseñado para que instales la versión correcta cuando quieras y no pierdas acceso a tu partida.
¿CUAL ES LA DIFERENCIA CON UNA UPGRADE GRATUITA?
Los desarrolladores y editores
serán quienes dedican si dan soporte o no a la función Smart Delivery. En algunos casos, Electronic Arts, 2K Games, Activision, entre otras deciden apostar a dar una upgrade gratuita de sus juegos de Xbox One aunque los progresos no se pueden transferir de una generación a la otra según el caso.
Para poner un ejemplo: Tales of Arise de Bandai Namco incluirá las dos versiones de Xbox cuando compramos el juego, pero los progresos no se pueden transferir de una plataforma a la otra. FIFA 22 tiene un Lote Multigeneracional a la venta, que otorga acceso a las versiones de Xbox One y Xbox Series, pero los la transferencia de progresos solo esta limitada a lo que hayamos hecho en FUT y Volta para FIFA 22.

¿LOS JUEGOS FÍSICOS TIENEN SOPORTE DE SMART DELIVERY?
Los discos físicos de los juegos de Xbox también serán compatibles con Smart Delivery si el desarrollador o editor decide implementar esta tecnología y así poder jugarlos en Xbox One y Xbox Series X. Obviamente los juegos tendrán aclarados entre sus funcionalidades este detalle.
Xbox Series S al ser una consola que solamente soporta formato digital queda descartada para estos casos particulares.
